Metal Buildings are Different
We understand that metal buildings are different. We don't just blindly go in and start spraying. We analyze your building and determine the right solution and the right details to deliver the best results. Choose the firm that uses building science to solve your thermal needs!
Why are Metal Buildings Different?
Metal buildings exhibit many unique characteristics that require extra thought when deciding to insulate them. Metal is an excelent thermal conductor which means it transfers heat extremely well! Not something you want when trying to make the building comfortable. This translates to heat transmitting into the building in the summer and out of the building in the winter.
Pre-Insulation Sealing
Metal buildings typically have a lot of small gaps and cracks that can let air infiltrate into the building. Due to the nature of the building, metal panels often simply overlap each other without a physical seal. Corrugations in the metal allow for half moon gaps in the edge of the roof and the bottom of the floor. We solve for this by using caulk, foam board, house wrap and foam to seal all of the cracks prior to insulating the building. This ensure an air tight seal that locks in comfort and deters pests.
Metal Condensates
Because metal is a smooth hard surface that doesnt allow vapor or moisture to penetrate, it locks in moisture and condensation. This means that when it's warm outside and cold inside you might get water droplets forming on the metal. We prevent this by applying the correct vapor and water barriers when insulating your building
Spray Foam is the Premier Solution
Spray foam provides the best protection against all of the unique issues that metal building owners face. Specifically, Closed Cell spray foam is the best solution. It provides an air tight seal and serves as a vapor, air and moisture barrier. Closed Cell spray foam has the highest R-Value of any material available so the thermal performance is unparalleled. This coupled with the fact that Closed Cell spray foam cures to a rigid hard material that adds strength to your metal building means Closed Cell foam is almost always the answser to your metal building Thermal Plan!
